By Adrianna Cutis Queen Elizabeth Woodville is most famous for being described as "the most beautiful woman in the Island of Britain". Married to King Edward IV she had 2 sons, the princes who inevitably were suppose to be the heirs to the thrown and the stunning Young Elizabeth who married with Richmond. She is part of the Woodville family, which is Richard's rival family and he doesn't like her because he knows that she could easily get all the power over the kingdom so he is always planning away to get her and her family out of the picture. Supposedly even after Richard III had killed both of her sons, and also her kinsmen, Rivers and Gray, she still switched and sided with Richard III. She was also accused of being heartless as to go to the side of the man who killed all of her close family and very well could kill herself and her daughters. Maybe she was just selfish or maybe she knew that it was the safest route for her and her family, but siding with Richard III made the people who surround her think twice about Richard's evil killings. In the play she was used to look like a enemy for Richard and show how he dealt with such situations. As you can see, he killed people and committed crimes to get what he wanted and to be in the position he ended up in. She was a threat to his glory and he didn't want to have to deal with her clever, snide comments. She's famous for being very influential and powerful and getting what she wants when she wants it. She also had a strong opinion and she followed her instincts as you can see when she flees for the sanctuary because she fears for her child's life.
